More than 500 female high school
students from 20 different schools participated in the recently concluded
Pond’s women’s high school volleyball at the Angelicum College in Quezon City
where all teams received volleyballs from Wilson – the official ball of the
tournament.
Arellano University, Pateros National High School along with St. Louis
College Valenzuela and Rizal High School of Pasig made its way to the
semifinal round.
St. Louis College Valenzuela, led by
their captain ball Verone Gutierrez, swept the championship title
against Rizal High School, 25-10, 25-15 and 25-14, in the City of Makati.
Aside from the championship
title, the school also bagged the MVP award through Gutierrez and two slots
in the Mythical Six with Charlene Abigail Cruz and Joan Arceo
along with Berna Casipong, Mary Grace Bulao (Rizal HS), Ruth Ester Torrente
(Arellano University) and Diane Marie Dalundon (Pateros National HS).
Both coaches, Eduardo
Santiago (SLCV) and Rowena Legaspi (Rizal HS) admitted it was a tough
game considering they have to play at least more than 20 games in different
schools to make it to the finals.
