The team realized that joining competitions help them discover their strengths and weaknesses thus the need to practice and upgrade one's skills.  But above all, the experience contributed to the development of self-discipline, sportsmanship, respect, camaraderie and appreciation for their God-given talents.

Century Tuna Culinary Meet 2006

2nd Runner-up Honors for SLCV's Student Chefs

Our very own Jessa Rona P. Si and Maria Andrea A. Ramirez (Yr4HRM) with their coach Ms. Anna Mae C. Tameta achieved Second Runner-up honors in the Century Tuna Culinary Meet 2006 - HRM Division.  The contest was held last August 12, 2006 at the Market! Market! Atrium.

Our HRM students improved on their 5th place distinction, earned last year. The contest selects tuna recipes from HRM schools nationwide and qualified finalists compete in an on-the-spot cooking contest.   This year's theme of "Classic Filipino Dishes with Flair", enmeshed finalists in a heated Classic Tuna Meal Battle, wherein they speed-shopped for groceries, invented unique dishes using "joker" ingredients (coconut milk, muesli, cherries and coffee anyone?), and then presented their creations in a lavish Filipiniana buffet.

The SLCV HRM team qualified for the finals with the original recipe Tuna Sisig Pasta. At the finals hosted by Boy Abunda, our award-winning student chefs dished out Crispy Croquettes Surprise in Peach Sauce (Hot Appetizer), Tuna Mousse with Coffee (Cold Appetizer), Coco Tuna Macaroni Salad on Grilled Pineapple Rings (Salad), and Tuna ala Bicol Express with Coffee on Vermicelli (Entrie). A glimpse of our winning team was aired on ABC Channel 5's Island Flavors.
